Eixample (it means enlargement) neighborhood which was designed and built in the 19th century by the pioneering Catalan engineer Ildefons Cerdà. It is in the exact location where I. Cerdà started his plan. Eixample is home to some of the world’s finest examples of rationalistic architectural designs. Many of the beautiful building in this historic neighborhood were designed by Spain’s most important architect, Antoni Gaudí.
